چکیده

Species of Carlina corymbosa L.,Carthamus dentatus Vahl. and Picnomon acarna (L.) Cass. are belonging to Asteraceae family. The purpose the study is determine anatomical structures these species in same tribe compare features. Samples root, stem leaf e-ach were collected, fixed examined using a light micros-cope. In addition, some features measured. Secondary growth was observed root cross section each species. Secretory ducts determined all While pith filled with xylem elements C. Periderm All contain bicollateral vascular bundles stem. species, glandular non-glandular trichomes on section, surface adaxial abaxial epidermis. has dorsiventral mesophyll, unifacial mesophyll other There bundle whereas collateral identified C.dentatus P.acarna. Also, have only one midrib but P.acarna three bundles.

Clastogenic effect of Carthamus lanatus L. (Asteraceae).

The clastogenic effect of total dichloromethane, methanol and water extracts, four bioactive fractions and three individual constituents from Carthamus lanatus aerial parts were evaluated in mice by bone marrow chromosome aberration assay with mitomycin C as positive control. Significant differences in the percentage of aberrant mitosis of the extracts were observed. The dichloromethane extract...

Lipophilic Constituents of Rumex vesicarius L. and Rumex dentatus L.

Rumex dentatus L. and Rumex vesicarius L., of the family Polygonaceae, are edible herbs growing wild in Egypt. Their lipoid constituents were examined by both liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Their essential oil compositions consisted mainly of thujene, limonene, fenchon, estragole, and anethole but at largely different concent...

Bioactive phenolics from Carthamus lanatus L.

Two flavonoid aglycons, eight flavonoid glycosides, chlorogenic acid and syringin were isolated from aerial parts of Carthamus lanatus. Isorhamnetin 3-O-beta-D-glucoside and chlorogenic acid were found for the first time in the genus Carthamus and respectively, quercimeritrin, astragalin, kaempferol 3-O-beta-D-sophoroside and syringin in the species. The ethyl acetate fraction of the methanol e...

Novel repeated DNA sequences in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) (Asteraceae): cloning, sequencing, and physical mapping by fluorescence in situ hybridization.

Two novel repetitive DNA sequences, pCtKpnI-1 and pCtKpnI-2, were isolated from Carthamus tinctorius (2n = 2x = 24) and cloned. Both represent tandemly repeated sequences. The pCtKpnI-1 and pCtKpnI-2 clones constitute repeat units of 343-345 bp and 367 bp, respectively, with 63% sequence heterogeneity between the two. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was employed on metaphase chromosom...
